IMPOSTER is an ongoing enquiry into the constructed self.

IMPOSTER seeks radical beauty in the ordinary. Wonder if they are meant to be here and why?

This presentation of imposter considers;

States of overwhelm and startle.

Moments when the simplest things seem hard and it feels like life is unravelling.

When stuff is thrown at you metaphorically and sometimes literally.

When what seems sweet turns sour.

It takes the form of a multi-channel video installation, poster prints and one-off intimate performance event.

Megan Rowland is an inter-disciplinary artist working with the body, performance, moving image and object. Her responsive practice employs ideas of assemblage, absurdity, unnatural narratology and radical beauty to propose moments of poetic nonsense designed to make you feel something. Megan is based on Kabi Kabi Country, Noosa.

Collaborator : Warwick Gow is a Sunshine Coast based photographer who uses the portrait to place local fringe culture within arm’s length of the mainstream.

Performers : Olivia Rooney is a Brisbane based dancer, somatics and dance movement therapist. Madi Farrell is a Brisbane based dancer, teacher and choreographer. Both performers work with a number of independent choreographers .

This project is supported by the Noosa Regional Arts Development Fund, a partnership between Noosa Council and the Queensland Government to support arts and culture in regional Queensland.
